Ahhh…today starts week 35 of my pregnancy! My due date is right around the corner and I’m starting to freak out a little bit. There is still a lot we have to do to get ready for this baby, but I am so excited to welcome a new baby boy or girl into our family :). ..the suspense of not knowing is starting to kill me a little bit! What do you guys think…girl or boy???
I waited to post today because I had an appointment with my midwife this morning and I wanted to include it in my update. The baby and I are both doing great. Baby’s heart rate was in the high 140s today and measuring right on track. I’m currently up 31 pounds and have been steadily gaining about a pound per week. While its tough to see the scale at such a high number, I’m happy that I’ve been doing a lot better than my last pregnancy and will probably end with a 35-37 pound weight gain as opposed to my 52 last time! I’m also so excited to announce that I’m still able to wear my wedding rings! My exercising and healthy eating this time around is definitely making a huge difference. I know I have a lot of work ahead of me but I’m excited to get back into shape.
The only part of the appointment that was unsettling was that the baby is in a “sucky position,” according to my midwife. He or she is posterior (face up just like my son was). She assured me that even though I can give birth to a posterior baby, labor can be longer and more difficult. There is definitely time for the baby to change positions, so I’m not going to worry about it too much. There are some things I can do to help.
I have an appointment with my chiropractor tomorrow because it’s supposed to align my pelvis which can help the baby get into the proper position. My midwife also recommended that I try some exercises from Spinningbabies.com to help baby get into an optimal position. I’ve visited the website before but I really need to get going on these exercises.
I’m doing everything I can possibly do to avoid a repeat C-section but I also know that there is a possibility it can happen again. I’ve done all of this research and preparation but at the end of the day it’s out of my hands. At least I know I’ve put myself in the best possible scenario to get the outcome I want. I’m really trying not to stress about it.
Overall I feel great and can’t complain about this pregnancy at all. I’m starting to get more tired as I get closer to my due date but that’s to be expected. In the past few days I’ve also have found that I get out of breath easily because the baby is running out of room in there. This week its also getting really hard to put on my shoes and socks haha. This all means I’m getting so close!
I hope everyone has a great week! I can’t believe Halloween is this week already! Time is flying.
I’ll leave you with some pictures taken this past week
